Seminar: Exploring American Humane's Global Initiatives for Animal Welfare in Zoos and BeyondExploring American Humane’s Global Initiatives for Animal Welfare in Zoos and Beyond

27 February 2024

2:00 PM to 3:00 PM CST

Seminar Description:

Learn more about American Humane, the United States’ first national humane organization.  For nearly a century and a half, our innovative, science-based programs have been first to serve in promoting and nurturing the bonds between animals and humans. Today we are recognized as the largest certifier of animal welfare in the world, helping to verify the humane treatment of animals on farms and ranches, in filmed media, and in zoos and aquariums, setting the standard for what humane means to more than 1 billion animals annually.

In this seminar, you’ll learn about how the country’s oldest humane organization uses science and evidence-based solutions to assess welfare and apply innovative initiatives that educate the public on the important role that zoos and aquariums play.

In the midst of what scientists have deemed the Sixth Mass Extinction, with species disappearing at an alarming rate, American Humane recognizes that the work being done by today’s leading zoological institutions is indeed humane and essential to the survival of these incredible species.
